There are certain specialty in the establishment on diagnostic and treatment protocols in traditional Chinese medicine（ TCM） for the outburst of acute infectious diseases due to the pressing time for decision-making

uncertainty of incidence and the lack of proof for evidence-based medicine. Ancient literature should be fully explored and data mining technology should be applied to build a TCM diagnostic and treatment pattern for five symptom groups including fever with respiratory symptoms

fever with rash

fever with diarrhea

fever with bleeding and fever with meningitis. On the basis of this

TCM Emergency Decision Support System（ EDSS） should be developed with appropriate artificial intelligence technology and broad experts’ consensus

in order to make diagnostic and treatment plans and back-up plans for the final protocols. Normative clinical research need to be conducted to assess the protocols and deliver higher grade evidence for optimization and update

as well as for the plans of similar epidemic situations.
