Objective To explore the feasibility of visual evaluation of curative effects of Chinese medicine in Yin-deficiency and dampness-heat syndrome in dampness-retention disease. Methods Symptom value standards for Yin-deficiency and dampness-heat syndrome in dampness-retention disease were established
and the standard value data was collected from 30 patients. Patients were intervened using decoctions treating Yin-deficiency and dampnessheat syndrome for 2 weeks. Based on Central Limit Theorem for probability distribution
symptom value matrix was established. According to symptom value matrix before and after the treatment
by conversion of eigenvalue and eigenvector
center and radius of ellipsoid were figured out. The ellipsoid was drawn
and the visual presentation of transformation of associated symptom value was achieved. Results Spatial shape of the ellipsoid generated by the symptom value of 30 patients before and after treatment changed in two ways: the center point( mean value) moved towards the direction of the original point
and the volume of the ellipsoid was also shrinking with its dispersion diminishing
tending to concentrating towards the center. These features manifested that decoctions for Yin-deficiency and dampness-heat syndrome could improve clinical symptoms remarkably. Conclusion Visual evaluation on curative effects of Chinese medicine in syndrome based on symptom value matrix is a direct
