Syndrome and treatment theory of phlegm and stasis originated from Huangdi Nei Jing
which did not put forward the name of phlegm and stasis but discussed "interactivity of juice foam and blood"about phlegm and stasis. In Eastern Han dynasty
Zhang Zhongjing firstly put forward the names of "phlegm and retained fluid "and"blood stasis". Since then
syndrome and treatment theory of phlegm and stasis was into a new development period. At different times
during Sui Dynasty
Tang Dynasty and Song Dynasty
ancient doctors supplemented and developed syndrome and treatment theory of phlegm and stasis. In Yuan dynasty
Zhu Danxi clearly put forward the "phlegm pinches blood stasis"
marked syndrome and treatment theory of phlegm and stasis becoming mature. In Ming and Qing dynasties
doctors inherited and developed Zhu Danxi’ s thoughts of phlegm and stasis and divided phlegm and stasis syndrome into two types
phlegm adhering to blood stasis and blood stasis adhering to phlegm
with phlegm and stasis theory to explain the clinical diseases. Since Qing dynasty
syndrome and treatment theory of phlegm and stasis has gradually become perfect
and become a part of the theory of Chinese medicine. At present
the"phlegm and stasis syndrome"has been as a standard syndrome name used in clinic
and is an important pathogenesis of intractable diseases in clinical departments. To improve level of clinical diagnosis and treatment of the phlegm and stasis syndrome
the future remains to systematically study etiology and pathogenesis
phlegm and stasis transformation rules
syndrome-differentiation method
and biological basis about phlegm and stasis syndrome.
