Objective To observe clinical effects of warm moxibustion at Jianjing( GB21) for preventing thyroid operative position syndrome. Methods Totally 120 patients undergoing thyroid surgery were randomly divided into treatment group and control group
with 60 patients in each group. All the patients were given preoperative routine nursing and posture training. After posture training two days before operation and after postoperation fully awake from anesthesia
warm moxibustion was given to the treatment group once per day
for 5 days. Recorded operation time of patients in both groups and compared the occurrence of dizziness and headache
nausea and vomiting
neck and shoulder pain in the two groups. Results In the treatment group
patients with operation time≤1h
1- 2 h
≥2 h were 8 cases
13 cases and 39 cases respectively
however
those the control group were 11 cases
9 cases and 40 cases respectively. Operation time distribution in patients of both groups has no statistically significant difference( P >0. 05). After the operation
in the treatment group
cases of dizziness and headache(5 cases)
nausea and vomiting(3 cases)
neck and shoulder pain(4 cases) were significantly less than those in the control group(with 21 cases
16 cases
25 cases respectively). There was statistically significant difference between the two groups( P < 0. 01).Conclusion Warm moxibustion at Jianjing( GB21) can effectively prevent the development of thyroid operative position syndrome.
