Clinical Observation on Oral Herbal Decoction Combined with Intravitreal Injection of Triamcinolone Acetonide: 30 Cases of Non-proliferative Diabetic Retinopathy Diffuse Macular Edema[J]. Objective To observe the effect and safety of oral herbal decoction which could supplement Qi
nourish Yin
promote blood circulation and induce diuresis combined with intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide( TA) treating non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy( NPDR) diffuse macular edema( DME). Methods Sixty patients(92 eyes) with NPDR DME were randomly divided into treatment group( 30 cases
47 eyes) and control group( 30 cases
45 eyes). On the first day of treatment
patients of both groups were given intravitreal injection of 4 mg TA. The treatment group was added oral herbal decoction which could supplement Qi
nourish Yin
promote blood circulation and induce dieresis
one dose every day
for 3 months. Observe the visual acuity of affected eyes
retinal thickness and macular leakage before treatment and 3 and 6 months after injection. Measured intraocular pressure
anterior and posterior segment on the 1st
3rd
7th day
3 months and 6 months after injection. Results Three months and six months after injection
the effective rate of treatment group was 89. 36% and 87. 23% respectively
while that of the control group was 73. 33% and 62. 22% respectively( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01)
and the visual acuity and retinal thickness of treatment group were improved significantly
the improvement of the treatment group was superior to that of the control( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01). There was no remarkable side effect in treatment group. There was 1 case of pan bottom opacity under lens posterior capsule in control group at 6 months after injection
which influenced visual acuity severely. Conclusion Oral herbal decoction which could supplement Qi
nourish Yin
promote blood circulation and induce diuresis combined with intravitreal injection of TA treating NPDR DME could improve patients’ visual acuity and relieve retinal edema and macular leakage. The effect was stable and the therapy seems safe.
