Objective To observe Chinese medical syndrome characteristics of cutaneous adverse reaction appearing in patients suffering from lung adenocarcinoma adopting epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor( EGFRI). Methods Prospective research methods was adopted. Patients suffering from lung adenocarcinoma
using EGFRI for treatment and having produced cutaneous adverse reaction were selected. Cutaneous adverse reaction and other symptom expression characteristics were observed and recorded before and 14 days
28 days
42 days and56 days after treatment. A preliminary summary and analysis on the Chinese medical syndrome and pathogenesis was made. Results Totally 43 patients were enrolled
with 3 falling off and finally 40 involved in analysis. Before treatment
patients’ rashes mainly appeared to be reddish pimple in the size of needle point to millet size. 92. 5% of patients had itch. Flushed face and congested eyes occurred in 80% patients with red color tongue commonly seen. The time of having acneiform rashes after using EGFRI was on day( 7. 85 ± 5. 07). The rashes reached a peak on the14 th day
and relieved after then. From the 14 th day to 28 th day
25. 0%
30. 0% of patients had pustule rashes with bitter taste
deep-colored urine and reddened tongue with yellow fur. After the 42 nd day
acneiform rashes gradually became sparse
and skin dryness increased remarkably to account for 85. 0%. Skin dryness appeared on day( 32. 8 ± 14. 91); On the 56 th day
there were 92. 5% of patients having skin dryness
50. 0% of patients having level3 desquamation
with mouth
nose and throat dryness gradually increased
purple-red tongue and scanty or no fur accounting for 50. 0%. The differences in variety of rashes between every 14 days were all statistically significant( P
<
0. 05 or P
<
0. 01). Conclusion Chinese medical syndrome of cutaneous adverse reaction appearing in patients suffering from lung adenocarcinoma adopting EGFRI showed to be wind-heat syndrome in early stage
