Acquired immune deficiency syndrome( AIDS) with pulmonary infection has become the main condition of AIDS patients with opportunistic infections
and it has become one of the primary causes of death among AIDS patients. From the view of traditional Chinese medicine
the clinical research on AIDS with pulmonary infection is discussed
and the etiology and pathogenesis
syndrome differentiation
and influencing factors related to syndrome types of the disease are analyzed. The authors think that there are complicated pathological factors in AIDS with pulmonary infection. Syndrome differentiation method
such as Zang-Fu
Qi-Blood
and Yin-Yang differentiation should be taken into consideration in the process of clinical syndrome differentiation
combining with disease staging. The pathogenesis of the disease involves many organs
including the lungs
spleen and kidney
and Qi-blood deficiency is one of the characteristics. Phlegm
deficiency and damp are still its important pathological factors. In the early stage of pulmonary infection
both defensive-Qi and evil-Qi are sufficient
which often cause phlegm-heat obstructing lung syndrome. With the weakness of Qi-blood function of organs
phlegm-damp obstructing lung syndrome occurs. In the later period of the disease
many organs are damaged
that often leading to lung and kidney deficiency syndrome. Distribution of syndrome types in AIDS with pulmonary infection is influenced by many factors
such as geographic regions
gender
route of infection
etc. which should be considered comprehensively in the process of clinical syndrome differentiation.
