Objective To observe the distribution of Chinese medicine constitutional patterns in non-small cell lung cancer( NSCLC) patients and discuss the relation of patients’ constitutional patterns and prognostic determinants. Methods NSCLC patients’ constitutional patterns in Chinese Medicine were investigated and prognostic determinants
such as patients’ gender
age
smoking index
pathological type
etc. were collected. Logistic regression analysis was made to analyze the correlation between patients’ constitutional patterns distribution and prognostic determinants. Results There were 89 patients of NSCLC in total. 19 cases were of Yin deficiency type( 21. 3%)
15 cases phlegm-dampness type( 16. 9%)
4 cases Qi deficiency type 1( 15. 7%)
14 cases blood stasis type( 15. 7%)
10 cases normal type( 11. 3%)
10 cases Qi stagnation type( 11. 3%)
3 cases dampness-heat type( 3. 4%)
2 cases Yang deficiency( 2. 2%)
and 2 cases special type( 2. 2%). Regression analysis showed that there was positive correlation between TNM stage and Qi deficiency( B = 0. 951
P = 0. 010) and Yin deficiency( B = 1. 127
P = 0. 001) types and negative correlation between TNM stage and blood stasis( B =- 1. 123
P =0. 018) and phlegm-dampness( B =- 1. 459
P = 0. 008) types. There was positive correlation between weight loss and Yin deficiency type( B = 2. 140
P = 0. 006). There was negative correlation between weight loss and phlegmdampness type( B =- 1. 247
P = 0. 037). There was no significant correlation between patients’ constitutional patterns and gender
age
smoking index
pathological type
family history and KPS scores. Conclusion Patients’ constitutional patterns were main Yin deficiency
phlegm-dampness
Qi deficiency and blood stasis types. Among NSCLC prognostic determinants
TNM stage and weight loss had correlation with patients’ constitutional patterns.
