Objective To investigate the international status of integrative and complementary medicine

and to provide reference for internationalization of Chinese medical journals by analyzing integrative and complementary medicine journals collected in Science Citation Index（ SCI）. Methods Statistical analysis of evolution history of integrative and complementary medicine journals collected in SCI from the year of 2000 to 2013 was conducted based on data in Journal Citation Reports（ JCR）. Meanwhile

major bibliometric indexes of 22 SCI collected integrative and complementary medicine journals in JCR 2013 edition were also analyzed. Results The quantity of SCI collected integrative and complementary medicine journals in JCR from the year of 2000 to 2013 showed a rising trend. There were 8 SCI collected integrative and complementary medicine journals in JCR 2000 edition

but 22 of this kind of journals in JCR 2013 edition. These 22 journals were from six countries

including 8 from the United States（ 36. 36%）

7 from England（ 31. 82%）

3 from China（ 13. 64%）

2 from German（ 9. 09%）

1 from Ireland and Nigeria respectively（ 4. 55%）. 20（ 90. 91%） of the 22 journals were published in English. The Journal of Evidence Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine had maximum amount of publishing each year（ 1293 papers）; Acupuncture & Electro Therapeutics Research had minimum amount of publishing each year（ 7 papers）. Only 3 journals were open access（ OA） journals（ 13. 64%）. The average impact factor of the 22 journals was 1. 460. Among the 22 journals

Journal of Ethnopharmacology got the highest impact factor（ 2. 939）

and Acupuncture & Electro Therapeutics Research had the lowest one（ 0. 400）. Conclusion Chinese medicine researches had attracted worldwide attention. At present

in the internationalization process of Chinese medicine academic journals

excellent manuscripts should be developed

English language publication need to be considered

cooperation with large international publishing agencies should be promoted

OA should be carried out

and the balance point between enhancing impact and controlling annual publishing amount needs to be found.
