Objective To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Liangxue Tongyu Decoction（ 凉血通瘀方） in the treatment of chronic daily headache. Methods Eighty cases of chronic daily headache patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group

with 40 cases in each group. The treatment group was given Liangxue Tongyu Decoction

1 dose daily; the control group was given pregabalin tablets orally

75 mg each time

twice a day.Both groups were treated for 60 days

and the clinical efficacy were compared. The headache attack frequency

pain degree and the accompanied anxiety and depression were observed before treatment

the 30 th day and the 60 th day of the treatment. Results The headache attack frequency

duration time and pain degree of the patients in two groups were significantly decreased at the 30 th day and the 60 th day of treatment compared with those before treatment（ P < 0. 01）. The headache attack frequency and duration time of headache in treatment group at the30 th day of treatment were significantly decreased compared with control group（ P < 0. 01）. The improvement of anxiety state at the 60 th day of the treatment in the control group was better than that in the treatment group（ P < 0. 01）. The clinical control rate（ 25%） and total effective rate（ 97. 50%） in the treatment group were higher than those in the control group（ 5% and 92. 50% respectively

P < 0. 01）. In the control group

there were 8 cases of adverse reactions

the treatment group had no obvious adverse reactions. Conclusion Liangxue Tongyu Decotion seems to have definite curative effect and good security in the treatment of chronic daily headache.
