Objective To observe the clinical effect of acupuncture combined with western medicine in treating post-stroke dysmnesia. Methods One hundred and nineteen patients were randomized into the western medicine group( 39 cases
basic treatment and oral nimodipine tablets)
the acupuncture group( 40 cases
basic treatment and acupuncture) and the acupuncture combined with Chinese medicinal herb group( 40 cases
basic treatment and acupuncture and oral nimodipine tablets). All patients were treated for 3 months. Followed up when the treatment had completed for 3 months. Patients’ delay memory scores were tested by Montreal Cognitive Assessment before
after treatment and at follow-up. Examined the clinical effect after treatment and at follow-up. Results The difference of patients’ delay memory scores in each group before
after treatment and at follow-up was not significant( P > 0. 05).After treatment
the total effective rate in the western medicine group was 25. 6%
35. 0% in the acupuncture group
62. 5% in the acupuncture combined with Chinese medicinal herb group. At follow-up
the total effective rates in 3groups were 46. 2%
47. 5% and 82. 5% respectively. The total effective rate after treatment and at follow-up in the acupuncture combined with Chinese medicinal herb group was significantly higher than that in the western Chinese medicinal herb group and the acupuncture group( P < 0. 05). Conclusion Acupuncture combined with western medicine could improve patients’ post-stroke dysmnesia and was more effective than western medicine alone or acupuncture alone.
