Objective To study clinical effects of modified Chaishao Liujunzi Tang( 柴芍六君子汤) combined with golden bifid adjuvantly treating patients with post-stroke depression. Methods Seventy-two patients with poststroke depression were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group
36 cases in each group. Both groups were given the conventional treatment of cerebrovascular disease
while the control group also took orally paroxetine

20 mg each time. Additionally
the treatment group was given Chaishao Liujunzi Tang combined with golden bifid. Before treatment and 2
4 weeks after treatment
scores of Hamilton depression rating scale( HAMD) and Barthel Index of both groups were observed to evaluate clinical effects. Results Total effective rate of clinical effects in the treatment group( 86. 11%) was better than that of the control group( 72. 22%)( P <0. 05). HAMD scores of the two groups after treatment for 2
4 weeks were lower than those before treatment but scores of Barthel Index increased( P < 0. 05)
and those after treatment for 4 weeks showed greater improvements( P < 0. 05); HAMD scores of the treatment group after treatment for 4 weeks was significantly lower than those of the control group but scores of Pasteur increased( P < 0. 05). Conclusion Modified Chaishao Liujunzi Tang combined with golden bifid adjuvantly treating patients with post-stroke depression may enhance clinical effects
and improve activities of daily living and depressive state.
