Objective Observe Clinical efficacy and safety of rotation-traction manipulation for patients with vertebral artery type of cervical spondylosis. Methods Divided 60 patients with cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type into test group and control group
with 30 cases each. The test group was treated by the method of rotationtraction manipulation
once every other days
10- 15 minutes each time; The control group was treated with cervical traction
once a day
20 minutes each time. Both groups were treated for 2 weeks. Clinical efficacy of the two groups were evaluated after treatment
to evaluate the functional status score
psychological function score and total score of vertigo of patients in each group before and 7 days and 14 days after treatment respectively. Results The total effective rate was 96. 67% in the test group and 83. 33% in the control group. And the total effective rate of the test group was significantly higher than that of the control group( P < 0. 05). The total score of vertigo and the functional state of vertigo in the test group were significantly lower than before treatment( P < 0. 05) on 7th day. The total score of vertigo
functional status and mental function score of two groups were decreased on 14 th day compared with that before treatment( P < 0. 05). The total score of vertigo on 7th day and 14 th day of treatment
as well as vertigo function state score on 14 th day of treatment in the test group were lower than those at the same time point in the control group( P <0. 05 or P < 0. 01). No adverse reactions occurred in the two groups. Conclusion Rotation-traction manipulation for vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis is more efficient and safe than cervical traction therapy.
