Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of Wenjing Tongluo Fang(温经通络方) fumigation in treating cancer pain patients with anxiety and depression. Methods Seventy-three malignant tumor patients were randomized into treatment group(41 cases) and control group(32 cases). Both groups were given conventional tumor treatment
while the treatment group was additionally administered with Wenjing Tongluo Fang fumigation and the control group was given water fumigation for 30 min each day. The treatment was given for 2 courses with 7 days as a course. Visual analogue scale(VAS)
self-rating depression scale(SDS) and self-rating anxiety scale(SAS) were used before treatment and after the first and the second course
meanwhile the adverse reactions were observed. Results For the treatment group
after the first and the second course
the VAS score decreased significantly than that before treatment
so as the control group after the first course(P < 0. 05). After the first and the second course
the VAS score of the treatment group were significantly lower than the simultaneous one of the control group(P <0. 05). For both groups
the SDS and the SAS scores after the first and the second course decreased significantly than those before treatment(P < 0. 05). After the second course
the SDS score of the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P < 0. 05). Conclusion Wenjing Tongluo Fang fumigation could ameliorate the pain
anxiety and depression of patients with fewer adverse reactions.
