Objective To explore the features of plasma metabonomics in patients with diabetes mellitus type 2with blood stasis syndrome. Methods Fifty patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 were enrolled
among whom 25 with blood stasis syndrome and 25 without blood stasis syndrome. The basic condition and blood stasis syndrome scores of patients in two groups were observed. Nuclear magnetic resonance( NMR) spectroscopy was applied to conduct quantitative determination on plasma contents of metabolites. Main factors contributing to the differences in metabolic components of patients in the two groups were analyzed using principal component analysis method. The possible metabolic pathways in the two groups were concluded. Results Blood stasis syndrome scores of type 2 diabetic patients with blood stasis syndrome were remarkably higher than that of without blood stasis syndrome( P < 0. 05).Forty-seven kinds of metabonomics were detected totally using NMR. Some of those were found in both two groups
but there were significant differences between the groups. Levels of acetone
acetoacetate
alpha hydroxy butyric acid
alpha hydroxy isovaleric acid
beta hydroxy butyric acid
alpha keto alien acid salt
3-methyl-2-oxopentanoate
3-hydroxy isobutyric acid and glycine in patients with blood stasis syndrome were higher than that in those without blood stasis syndrome( P < 0. 05). However
levels of fumaric acid
citric acid
N-acetyl ornithine
pyroglutamic acid
and methionine in group with blood stasis syndrome were lower than those in the group without blood stasis syndrome( P < 0. 05). There was no statistical significant difference in other 32 kinds of metabonomics between the two groups( P > 0. 05). Conclusion Patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 with blood stasis syndrome may have more severe fat metabolic
amino acid metabolic and energy metabolic disorders.
