There is controversy regarding acupuncture effect internationally. One of the important reasons is the uncertainty of acupuncture stimulating quantity. There is some domestic quantitative research about acupuncture stimulating quantity. Since there are a lot of correlative factors influencing acupuncture stimulating quantity and there is certain subjectivity on deciding the acupuncture stimulating quantity
related standards of acupuncture quantity are not formed yet by present researches. Based on analyzing domestic and international acupuncture quantitative studies
the authors develop an acupuncture robot
which could implement the requirements of operating quick needling & twirling and stopping at limit positions. Besides
there are several measures to ensure the accuracy of the needle insertion. This acupuncture robot has the characteristics of accurate quantitative control
which is more suitable for animal experiment and may improve the objectivity of acupuncture manipulation and the reproducibility of acupuncture research. The authors think that the robot is a feasible program to promote the standardization of acupuncture
especially the standardization of acupuncture experimental research.
