the pathological process of dilated cardiomyopathy is inferred mostly according to the disease and syndrome category of "heart distension". As for treatment
regulating and supplementing heart yang is mostly taken as the basis. But this syndrome differentiation thinking could not cover all pathogenesis evolution cases of this disease in clinic. Consequently
the authors explore the Chinese medical pathogenesis of dilated cardiomyopathy from the aspect of "disharmony of water and fire". They put forward that "disharmony of water and fire as well as disharmony between heart and kidney"is the key link and basic pathogenesis of this disease in Chinese medicine. The pathogenesis transformations( including heart distension heat syndrome of water deficiency-ministerial fire excess
heart distension cold syndrome of fire decline-cold water overflowing
and heart distension static bloodwater binding syndrome of water deficiency-fire decline) all develop from "disharmony of water and fire". In clinical treatment
"harmonizing water and fire"should be the therapeutic core
and corresponding treatment should be given according to pathogenesis evolution at different stages.
