Objective To observe the clinical effect of Compound Yexiazhu Granule( 复方叶下珠颗粒剂
CYG)in the treatment of patients with Hepatitis B-related primary hepatocellular carcinoma after transcatheter arterial chemoembolization( TACE). Methods Sixty patients with hepatitis B-related primary liver cancer after TACE were randomized into control group and treatment group with 30 cases in each group. Both groups were given basic symptomatic treatment in western medicine. In addition
the treatment group was given CYG with one dose a day. Both groups were treated for 24 weeks. Before and after treatment
Chinese medicine symptom scores of the lack of strength
shortness of breath
abdominal distension
loss of appetite and thin
unformed stool were compared
so as the liver function and related blood biochemical indexes [alanine aminotransferase( ALT)
hepatitis B surface antigen( HBs Ag)
alpha-fetoprotein( AFP) ]. Child-Pugh score and KPS score were also evaluated. Result After treatment
the levels of ALT
HBs Ag and AFP
and Child-Pugh score in the control group were significantly lower than those before treatment( P < 0. 05); the levels of ALT
HBs Ag
AFP and HBV-DNA
and Child-Pugh score in the treatment group were significantly lower than those before treatment( P < 0. 05). Compared with those in the control group
the levels of HBV-DNA and AFP
and Child-Pugh score significantly decreased in the treatment group after treatment( P < 0. 05). The scores of the lack of strength
loss of appetite
abdominal distension and thin
unformed stool significantly decreased in the control group( P < 0. 05). The scores of the lack of strength
loss of appetite
abdominal distension and thin
unformed stool significantly decreased( P < 0. 05)
while the KPS score increased in the treatment group( P < 0. 05). Compared with those in the control group
the scores of the lack of strength
loss of appetite
shortness of breath and abdominal distention significantly decreased( P < 0. 05)
and the KPS score significantly increased in the treatment group( P < 0. 05). Conclusion The clinical symptoms
liver function and quality of life of patients with hepatitis B-related primary hepatocellular carcinoma could be improved by the combination of CYG with western medicine
which seems superior to conventional western medicine.
