This article introduces WU Liangcun’ s experience in treating pancreatic cancer with Xiao Xianxiong Tang(小陷胸汤). He thinks that the pancreas is an extraordinary Fu-organ
which could perform its function when there is free flow. The pancreas is located in the middle Jiao(the middle energizer
中焦)
whose functions is under great influence of the free flow of Qi in the liver and the gallbladder as well as the ascending and descending of Qi in the spleen and the stomach
which should be treated by harmonization. In clinical practice
eight-principle syndrome differentiation should be the guideline
to simplify the process of syndrome differentiation and grasp the core of the pathogenesis. He also puts forward that the abdominal pain caused by pancreatic cancer is similar to the chest bind syndrome in Chinese medicine
which could be treated following the example of minor chest bind syndrome
using acrid herbs to open and bitter herbs to promote descent
representative of harmonization
to relieve stuffiness of the chest and reduce masses.
