from the beginning of the database to April 25 th
2017. The papers were included in Meta analysis after the quality was evaluated by Jadad scale. Results Totally
24 papers of randomized controlled trials were included
with 848 patients in the Chinese and western medicine combination group and 816 patients in the simple chemotherapy group. The quality of included papers was 1-3 score. Meta analysis results showed that the Chinese and western medicine combination group was superior to the simple chemotherapy group at the aspects of nausea-vomitting [RR = 0. 71
95% CI( 0. 64-0. 78)
P < 0. 001]
anorexia [RR = 0. 51
95% CI( 0. 34-0. 76)
P < 0. 001]
abnormal defecation [RR = 0. 62
95% CI( 0. 45-0. 86)
P = 0. 004]
tumor curative effect index [RR = 1. 14
95% CI( 1. 07-1. 21)
P < 0. 001] and life quality [RR = 1. 59
95% CI( 1. 38-1. 83)
P < 0. 001]. Conclusion Invigorating spleen and benefiting Qi herbs might reduce chemotherapy patients’ incidence of nausea-vomitting
anorexia and abnormal defecation. Moreover
the herbs might improve chemotherapy effect and quality of life.
