Objective To observe the clinical curative effect of post-stroke thalamic pain by using restoring consciousness and opening the orifices needing combined with scalp acupuncture electrical stimulation. Methods Eighty patients with post-stroke thalamic pain were randomly divided into acupuncture group and medication group
with 40 cases in each group. The acupuncture group received restoring consciousness and opening the orifices needing combined with scalp acupuncture electrical stimulation
and medication group took Carbamazepine tablets. Mc Gill pain Questionnaire( MPQ) was used to assess the pain degree
and transcranial color Dopper( TCD) was applied to detect blood flow velocity of vertebral artery and basilar artery
vascular pulsatility index
and vascular resistance index before treatment and 4 weeks after treatment. The clinical efficacy after treatment was evaluated. Results After 4 weeks’ treatment
MPQ scores of two groups were significantly reduced compared with before treatment
and the improvement degree of acupuncture group was better than the medication group( P < 0. 05). TCD results showed that the average blood flow rate of vertebral artery and basilar artery after treatment was higher than before treatment
and there was a statistically significant difference in average blood flow rate of left vertebral artery in acupuncture group compared with medication group after treatment( P < 0. 05). The vascular pulsatility index and vascular resistance index of vertebral artery and basilar artery of two groups were reduced compared with before treatment
and there was a statistically significant difference in vascular pulsatility of acupuncture group compare with medication group after treatment( P < 0. 05). After treatment
the treatment group was better than control group in clinical efficacy. Conclusion Restoring consciousness and opening the orifices needing combined with scalp acupuncture electrical stimulation in the treatment of post-stroke thalamic pain has achieved good curative effect
and it can improve the blood supply of vertebral artery and basilar artery and reduce the peripheral resistance.
