the team of ZHANG Tingdong of the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University has fully studied the application of Ailing Injection( 癌灵注射液) with the main component of arsenic trioxide in the treatment of leukemia patients
and found that it is especially suitable for acute promyelocytic leukemia. In view of its side effects
they conducted research on the mechanism of arsenic trioxide toxicity together with Professor CHEN Zhu from Shanghai Ruijin Hospital in 1995. According to the research results
the continuous slow intravenous infusion of arsenic acid was established
which basically solved the difficult problems in the clinical medicine such as hyperleukocytosis and long QT syndrome in arsenic treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia. This series of studies have greatly improved the clinical efficacy and safety of acute promyelocytic leukemia.
