this paper summarized the effects of Yangqi on senile dementia and the rehabilitation treatment of senile dementia form the aspect of Yangqi. The pathogenesis of senile dementia is discussed from the perspective of Yangqi. It is believed that yang deficiency will not only lead to insufficiency of warmth

lack of essence and blood

and loss of spiritual and mental nourishment;but also lead to inability to activate qi

further leading to accumulation of phlegm and blood stasis which will eventually be formed in brain and cause senile dementia. The rehabilitation thought of traditional Chinese medicine in treating senile dementia from Yangqi includes acupuncture rehabilitation method mainly to regulate the Governor Vessel and stimulate Yangqi

drug rehabilitation method mainly to tonify heart qi and stimulate heart yang

and exercise rehabilitation method mainly to activate yang to achieve the balance of yin and yang.
