Objective To analyze clinical efficacy of Banxia Baizhu Tianma Decoction（ 半夏白术天麻汤） combined with atorvastatin calcium tablets in the treatment of carotid atherosclerosis with wind phlegm obstructing collateral syndrome. Methods Data of 100 patients of carotid atherosclerosis with wind phlegm obstructing collateral syndrome druing September 2014 to September 2017 were divided into treatment group and control group

with 50 cases in each group. The control group was given atorvastatin calcium tablets

20 mg each time

for oral administration once in the evening. The treatment group was added Banxia Baizhu Tianma Decoction

1 dose each day. Treatment course of both groups was 6 months. The carotid artery intima-media thickness（ IMT）

carotid plaques in the Crouse of integral of both groups were observed before treatment

3 and 6 months after treatment. Meanwhile

serum total cholesterol（ TC）

triglyceride（ TG）

and low density lipoprotein cholesterin（ LDL-C） were detected

and the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine（ TCM） was determined after 3 and 6 months treatment. Results The clinical total effective rate in the treatment group after 3 and 6 months’ treatment was 80. 0% and 90. 0% respectively

which was higher than 64. 0% and 76. 0% in the control group. The IMT and Crouse integral of both groups after 6 months’ treatment were significantly decreased compared with before treatment（ P < 0. 05）. After 6 months’ treatment

the IMT and Crouse integral in the treatment group was significantly lower than those of the control group（ P < 0. 05）.The TC

Conclusion The clinical efficacy of Banxia Baizhu Tianma Decoction combined with atorvastatin calcium tablets in the treatment of carotid atherosclerosis with wind phlegm obstructing collateral syndrome was better than single use of atorvastatin calcium tablets.
