This paper summarized ZHAO Wenxia’s experience in treating hepatic cirrhosis with portal hypertensive gastropathy caused bleeding. It is proposed that fire
stasis and phlegm are the three major pathogenesis of this disease. Blood stasis runs through the course of the disease
and it is the central link of the disease. Both fire and deficiency can cause stasis
which is the key pathogenesis leading to bleeding. In the case of clinical treatment
main pathogenesis of fire
stasis and phlegm should be carefully differentiated first. Pay attention to the principle of superficial or roots as well as chronic or acute. Stop bleeding during the active period of bleeding
and prevent re-bleeding during the recovery period
and to consolidate the curative effect according to the syndrome differentiation. The concept of "mixed treatment"is applied to clinical practice. Different forms of Chinese medicine and administration are applied on the basis of syndrome differentiation treatment. Meanwhile
various treatment methods such as enema of traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture are used to improve the curative effect
and the syndrome differentiation is emphasized to prevent recurrence.
