Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of Lujiao Guishao Decoction( 鹿角归芍汤
LJGSD) combined with conventional western medicine in the treatment of permenopausal depression of Yin and Yang deficiency syndrome. Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted to collect the permenopausal depression patients with Yin and Yang deficiency from December 2016 to December 2017 through the outpatient medical record system. The 63 patients who were treated with Lujiao Guishao Decoction combined with western medicine were selected as the exposer group
and 62 patients who were only treated with western medicine were selected as the control group. Both groups were treated for 8 weeks. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Scale( PSQI) score
ovarian function index including follicle-stimulating hormone( FSH)
luteinizing hormone( LH)
estradiol( E2) and neurobiochemical indicators including 5-hydroxytryptamine( 5-HT)
norepinephrine( NE) were compared before and after treatment. The clinical efficacy was evaluated after treatment. Results The total clinical effective rate of the exposer group was 90. 5%
which was higher than 82. 3% of the control group( P < 0. 05). After 4 and 8 weeks of treatment
the PSQI scores of the exposer group were lower than those of the control group( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01). The serum FSH and LH levels of both groups were lower than those before treatment( P < 0. 01)
and there was no significant difference between groups( P > 0. 05). The serum E2 levels of the 2 groups were higher than those before treatment( P < 0. 01). The improvement of the exposer group was better than that of the control group( P < 0. 05). After treatment
serum 5-HT and NE levels in the 2 groups were higher than those before treatment
and the improvement in the exposer group was better than that in the control group( P < 0. 05 or P < 0. 01). Conclusion Lujiao Guishao Decoction combined with western medicine therapy for the treatment of Yin and Yang deficiency type permenopausal depression can significantly improve the ovarian function and neurobiochemical parameters of patients
