The formation and development of atherosclerotic plaques are closely related to the local internal environment of the body. The plaque microenvironment includes the cellular components that make up the plaque itself and the factors secreted by them
as well as various pathological factors that exist in the microenvironment to promote plaque formation. In Chinese medicine
the balance of yin and yang is the basis for maintaining the normal life activities of the human body
and the formation of plaque is the result of the imbalance of yin and yang in its micro-environment. When the factors of various yin and yang properties in the micro-environment are over-converted
the unbalanced state is further aggravated
and finally the yin-yang rejection is caused
resulting in plaque rupture. Due to its multi-target regulation
traditional Chinese medicine has a significant effect in maintaining the balance of yin and yang in the body. Restoring the dynamic balance of yin and yang under disease state is the basic criterion for the treatment of atherosclerosis.
