Endoplasmic reticulum is the core organelle of metabolic activities
and endoplasmic reticulum stress is an important part of metabolic diseases. "Spleen Qi dispersing essence" is a generalization of spleen′s participation in material metabolism. If the spleen cannot disperse essence
it′s not allowed to transport the essence. Essence will gather into turbidity and shut off the collaterals. Changing syndromes will thrive
leading to metabolic disorder and injury to multiple organs. Spleen health and spleen vessel patency is the basis of playing the role of "spleen Qi to dispersing essence". Tonifying spleen and dredging collaterals of spleen are to promote the main treatment ideas of "spleen Qi to dispersing essence". The spleen system of traditional Chinese medicine is closely related to the function of endoplasmic reticulum. "Spleen could not dispersing the essence" is the core pathogenesis of metabolic disease. Based on the theory of "spleen Qi dispersing essence"
this paper discussed the mechanism of promoting spleen and dispersing essence method in regulating endoplasmic reticulum stress and restoring endoplasmic reticulum homeostasis in the treatment of metabolic diseases.
