reporting quality and intervention-related reporting quality of randomized controlled trial(RCT) of acupuncture therapy for ulcerative colitis(UC). Methods The RCTs of acupuncture in the treatment of UC were systematically searched by China National Knowledge Infrastructure
China Science and Technology Journal Database
Wanfang Database
China Biomedical Literature Service System
PubMed and Cochrane Libraries from the database establishment to April 1 st
2019. The information were extracted referring to the CONSORT extension statement and STRICTA list. The methodological quality and reporting quality of the included studies were evaluated based on the Cochrane collaboration risk assessment tool and the CONSORT extension statement
and the quality of the intervention reporting was evaluated based on the STRICTA list. Results A total of 12 RCT studies were included
7 of which were treated with acupuncture with control of western medicine
and 5 of which were treated with acupuncture combined with western medicine controlled with western medicine. Among them
2(16.67%) studies reported the method of random sequence production
1(8.33%) reported allocation concealment
and 8(66.67%) studies reported other bias risks high. There was 1(8.33%) study described the experimental design in detail
and 1(8.33%) reported baseline data as required in the CONSORT. In the description of the intervention measures
the reasons for the choice of acupuncture methods and the background of therapists were not described in all the included studies. Conclusion The methodological quality
quality of report and intervention of the included RCTs of acupuncture treatment of UC were all low. It is suggested that future studies should improve the level of research design and to follow the items in the CONSORT statement and STRICTA list to carry out the scheme design and report the research results.
