Objective To explore the action mechanism of electroacupuncture(EA) on functional dyspepsia(FD). Methods A total of 30 SD rats were randomly divided into a blank group
a model group and an EA group
with 10 rats in each group. Except for the blank group
the other rats were given multi-factor intervention to prepare FD models. After successfully modeling
EA group was treated with EA for 14 days at "Zusanli(ST36)" and "Tai Chong(LR3)"
while the other groups did not give any intervention. The expression of Occludin and tight junction protein ZO-1 of duodenum was detected by immunohistochemistry after intervention finished. The changes of duodenal tight junction and plasma cells were observed by electron microscope. Results Compared with the blank group
the positive expression of Occludin and ZO-1 in the model group were significantly reduced(P<0.01). Under electron microscope
the duodenal tight junctions were blurred and widened
the rough endoplasmic reticulum(RER) of plasma cells increased and expanded
as well as deposition of collagen fibers. Compared with the model group
the duodenal Occludin and ZO-1 positive expression in the EA group were significantly increased(P<0.05)
the tight junctions between the duodenal epithelial cells were relatively clear
the rough endoplasmic reticulum reduced in plasma cells
and there was no expansion and collagen fiber deposition. Conclusion EA play a role in the treatment of FD by up-regulating expression of occludin and ZO-1
