Professor ZHAO Wenxia believes that the pathogenesis of hepatic hydrothorax are yang deficiency of the spleen and the kidney
the loss of ventilating lung qi. The deficiency of spleen and kidney yang is the internal basis of the disease
and the loss of ventilating lung qi is the external manifestation of the disease. Warming and supplementing the spleen and the kidney and ventilating lung qi for diuresis are the basic treatments for the disease. Soothing the liver and dreging meridians is the important part to treat the disease. Buzhong Yiqi Decoction(补中益气汤) and Tingli Dazao Xiefei Decoction(葶苈大枣泻肺汤) are used in the treatment.
