This paper summarized Professor CAI Lianxiang′s clinical experience in treating subclinical hypothyroidism（SCH） infertility. It is believed that kidney-spleen deficiency is the root cause of SCH infertility

while obstruction of qi stagnation and phlegm stasis is the branch

which belongs to root deficiency and branch excess

as well as deficiency-excess complex syndrome. Accordingly

the methods of tonifying the kidney and fortifying the spleen

smoothing the liver and regulating qi

dissolving phlegm and dispelling stasis were attached importance to. In the clinical practice

self-made prescriptions Tiaojing Zhuyun Decoction and Fuzheng Xiaozheng Decoction were commonly used to treat SCH infertility

and the formulas were modified according to the syndrome differentiation. Additionally

syndrome differentiation should be combined with disease differentiation

and the lifestyle habits should be appropriately adjusted.
