Objective To compare the clinical characteristics and endocrine levels in polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) patients of phlegm-damp obstruction with or without polycystic ovarian morphology(PCOM). Methods According to the ultrasound examination results
patients were classified into PCOM group(281 patients) and non-PCOM group(194 patients). Baseline characteristics such as age
height
weight
waist circumference
hip circumference
acne score
hair score were compared between groups; levels of follicle stimulating hormone
luteinizing hormone
estradiol
progesterone
testosterone
prolactin
sex hormone-binding globulin
and other endocrine indexes were assessed. Results Compared to non-PCOM group
PCOM group had lower diastolic blood pressure(P=0.0004)
higher hair score(P=0.0005)
longer menstrual cycles(P=0.0322)
and higher ratio of testosterone to estradiol(T/E
2
)(P=0.0384)
while there were no significant differences between groups in other outcomes(P
>
0.05). Conclusion There are differences between PCOS patients with or without PCOM
and patients with PCOM seem to have lower diastolic blood pressure
