Objective To explore the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndromes of influenza in winter 2019. Methods Totally 502 cases of influenza admitted to the fever clinic of China-Japan Friendship Hospital from December 16 th
2019 to January 12 th
2020 were included. The general and epidemiological data of the patients
as well as the distribution of TCM syndromes and the etiological results were collected to summarize the characteristics of TCM syndromes of influenza. Results Of the 502 patients
there were 217 males and 285 females
with an average age of 33.23±13.62 years old. Eighteen cases had history of influenza
and nine cases vaccinated within past 12 months. According to the virus antigen test results
431 cases were influenza A while 71 cases were influenza B. Of the influenza A cases
the proportion of the wind-cold fettering the exterior pattern
the exterior cold and interior heat pattern
the wind-heat invading wei(卫) pattern
the heat toxin attacking the lung pattern
and the damp-heat obstruction and stagnation pattern was 44.32%
37.59%
9.28%
7.89%
0.92%
respectively
while those of influenza B cases were 45.07%
40.85%
5.63%
8.45% and 0
respectively. Influenza A was mostly of wind-cold fettering the exterior pattern with qi deficiency
while influenza B was often the exterior cold and interior heat pattern with qi deficiency. Conclusion Type A virus infection was mostly common in winter 2019 influenza season
mainly manifested as wind-cold fettering the exterior pattern in combined with qi deficiency.
