Maintaining blood glucose stability is of great significance for the treatment of diabetes and its complications. Pancreatic β-cell dysfunction is a critical process in the pathogenesis of weakened self-blood glucose regulation and fluctuating hyperglycemia occurrence in patients with type 2 diabetes. The inner membrane system is a key link enabling the pancreatic β-cell to function normally
and can be regulated by the intestinal flora-pancreatic β-cell distal crosstalk to maintain blood glucose stability
which is in line with the function of the spleen to govern transportation and transformation(abbreviated as spleen function) in traditional Chinese medicine. Therefore
this paper discussed the role of intestinal flora-pancreatic β-cell distal crosstalk in maintaining the blood glucose stability from the perspective of the spleen function
so as to explore the possibility of stabilizing blood glucose by restoring the spleen function to normal
providing new ideas for reducing blood glucose fluctuations as well as the prevention and treatment of diabetes and complications.
