This paper summarized professor WANG Sumei's experience in treating tic disorder in children. Wind-phlegm is considered to be the branch syndrome of tic disorder, while spleen deficiency is the root of the formulation of phlegm-fluid and may lead to liver-wood transforming into wind. Therefore, it is proposed that the main pathogenesis of this disease is the wind-phlegm harrasing the upper body and flowing through the channels and collaterals. The pathogen of both external and internal wind should be focused on, and the tangible and intangible phlegm need to be dealt with. For treatment of tic disorder in children, it is recommended to treat from liver and spleen and to take the methods of reinforcing earth and inhibiting wood. Moreover, the spleen-fortifying method should be combined with spleen-activating method; spleen-stomach
qi
and
yin
are advised to be supplemented and nourished simultaneously, and moistening and drying methods are used together; the
qi
movement of spleen-stomach should be regulated; both wood-inhibiting and earth-reinforcing are important; and self-made
Jianpi Zhidong Decoction
(健脾止动汤) is suggested to be used in clinical practice.
