This paper summarized professor CHENG Choufu's clinical experience in treating hypertension based on “ascending and descending of

movement”. Hypertension is categorized into “vertigo” in traditional Chinese medicine （TCM）， and usually occurs when there is depletion of spleen and stomach， leading to abnormal ascending and descending of spleen and stomach， and clear

failing to ascend， or when excessive ascending of liver

and insufficient descending of lung
