Traditional acupuncture & moxibustion's theoretical， clinical， and technical knowledge have respectively evolved into three new knowledge fields， which are acupuncture & moxibustion humanities， acupuncture & moxibustion clinic， and acupuncture & moxibustion engineering during their modern transformation. Together with laboratory-generated acupuncture & moxibustion scientific knowledge， they formed into the discipline knowledge system of modern acupuncture & moxibustion. Viewed from the knowledge structure， the acupuncture & moxibustion discipline can be divided into four branches， including humanistic acupuncture & moxibustion， clinical acupuncture & moxibustion， engineering acupuncture & moxibustion， and scientific acupuncture & moxibustion. The way of its construction shares the characteristics of inclusiveness， stability， and openness， which is conductive to the long-term development of acupuncture & moxibustion discipline.
