Objective:To observe therapeutic effect of Zhongfeng Huiyan Capsule on apoplectic aphasia.Methods:180 cases who conformed to the criteria were randomly divided into two groups.The treatment group（n=120）were treated by Zhongfeng Huiyan Capsule

4 capsules once

3 times each day;and the control group（n=60）by Huatuo Zaizao Bolus

8g once

3 times each day

30 days constituting one course.The scores in each patient were counted at the first day and the end of the treatment based on The Chinese Aphasia Examination.Mean scores before and after treatment and therapeutic effects between the two groups were compared

and the relations of the therapeutic effect and lesion types

gender

duration of illness were investigated.Results:There were significant differences before and after treatment in mean score in the two groups with more obvious changes in the treatment group.The treatment group was significantly superior to the control group in the cured rate and the effective rate;the therapeutic effect in the treatment group was not related with the tpye of disease and the gender.However

younger patients or the patients with shorter duration of disease and milder aphasia would achieve more higher cured rate. Conclusion:Zhongfeng Huiyan Capsule has obvious therapeutic effect for the patients of cerebral hemorrhage or cerebral infarction.The shorter duration of illness

the better the therapeutic effect.
