Objective To study the distribution and development rules of TCM syndromes of psoriasis vulgaris. Methods The study with the status survey
multi-center and large samples was carried out.The data base was set up by EPIINFO6.0 and SPSS was used to do the statistical analysis on 2651 cases of psoriasis vulgaris for studying the correlations between distribution and development of TCM syndromes in different stages
nationality
psoriasis history
family history
smoking history
alcohol drinking history
and severity of the disease. Results The main TCM syndromes of psoriasis vulgaris were blood-heat(53.8%)
blood-dryness(27.4%)and blood-stasis(18.1%).Others occupied 0.6%.The accompanied syndromes were dampness
heat
stasis and toxin. The distribution of the main syndromes in all the stages was statistically significant(P<0.01).The syndrome distribution was not related with nationality and family history(P>0.05)
but closely related with the psoriasis history
smoking history
alcohol drinking history
and severity of the disease(P<0.01).Conclusion At the early stage of psoriasis vulgaris
it is the blood-heat syndrome
and later it may transform into blood-dryness or blood-stasis.Blood-heat is the key link in the transformation of the pathological change and the alcohol drinking
smoking and severity of the disease may play a role in it.
