Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of self-innovated Tuina manipulation on the cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type. Methods Totally 126 cases were randomized into treatment group and control group. The treatment group (64 cases) was treated by the self-innovated Tuina manipulations and the control group (62 cases) was treated by routine manipulation methods. The improvement of headache
dizziness
neck pain and rheoencephalogram was observed. Results In the treatment group
the improvement of headache
dizziness
neck pain was more significant than that of the control group (P<0.05).There was no significant improvement in rheoencephalogram of both groups except for right internal carotid artery. Conclusion The self-innovated manipulation can improve the clinical symptoms of vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis
but is not able to change the pathological structural basis of the neck. The rheoencephalogram after treatment is not significantly improved.
