Objective To observe the effect and safety of Jianerl e Granule （Granule for children） on cough variant asthma （CVA） of remission sta ge. Methods Totally 103 CVA cases of remission stage were divided into a treatment gro up （52 cases） treated by Jianerle Granule for six months and a control group （ 51 cases） treated by Beclomethasone Dipropionate Inhaler. After one course （6 mo nthes） of treatment

the condition of cough attacks was analyzed. The changes in pressu re of expiratory flow （PEF） and forced expiratory volume in one second （FEV1）

there was no sig nificant difference in the effect on cough and pulmonary functions between the t wo groups （P>0.05）. The effect on TCM symptoms of the treatment group was s igni ficantly superior to that of the control group （P<0.01）. The changes in IgA

and CD8 of the two groups were significant （P<0.05）. There were no abnor mal laboratory changes in the treatment group and without untoward reactions either. Conclusion Jianerle Granule functions to prevent CVA attacks

improve the symptoms and immunity

stop the development of CVA to the t ypical asthma.
