Objective To study the thermal characteristics of Ren and Du Vessels and its clinical significance in the HIV/AIDS patients. Methods The automatic thermal analysis (ATA) was adopted to observe the infrared thermal changes of 175 HIV/AIDS patients. Compared with the infrared image parameters of 100 normal persons (control group) and CD4 lymphocyte count
the infrared thermal changes of the patients after the Chinese medicine treatment for 5 months were studied. Results The thermal difference of the patients of Du-Governor vessel and Shenque (CV 8) were significantly lower than that of the control group
and the thermal difference of the Ren-Conception vessel was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). After treatment
the thermal difference of the patients of Du-Governor vessel and Shenque (CV 8) was significantly increased
and the thermal difference of the Ren-Conception vessel was significantly decreased (P<0.05). Conclusion The thermal state of the HIV/AIDS patients presents a different characteristic in comparison with that of the normal persons. After treatment
their thermal characteristic is changed to a certain degree. As a means of assistant detection
the ATA technique owns its potential value of application.
