ObjectiveTo explore the effect and mechanism of Ruda Kuiyang Powder（p owder for gastric ulcer） on the inflammatory indices and inflammatory markers in experimental gastric ulcer model rats.MethodsSixty SD ra ts were randomized into the Ruda Kuiyang Powder large-dose group

middle-dose group

small-dose group

omeprazole group and model control group

with 12 in each.The gastric ulcer rat models were made by acetic acid cauterization.Three days after modeling

the Ruda Kuiyang Powde r large-dose group

middle-dose group and small-dose group were given 2g/（kg ·d）

1g/（kg·d） and 0.5g/（kg·d） of Ruda Kuiyang Powder respectively.The omeprazo le group was given 0.0036g/（kg·d） of omeprazole capsules.The mo del control group was given equal volume of normal saline.The intragastric a dministration was given in all groups once daily for 15 days.The ulcer index an d inflammation index was calculated.The content of serum superoxide dismutase（ SOD） and malondialdehyde（MDA） was detected.ResultsCo mparing with the model co ntrol group

all the treatment groups could reduce the ulcer index

inflammation index and the content of serum MDA（P<0.05 or P<0.01）.The above indi ces in the Ruda Kuiyang Powder small-dose group were significantly lower than those in th e middle-dose and large-dose groups（P<0.05 or P<0.01）.Comparing wit h the model group

all the treatment groups could increase the content of serum SOD（P<0.05 or P<0.01）.The content of serum SOD in the Ruda Kuiyang Powder small-dose group was significantly higher than those in the middle-dose and large-dose groups （P <0.01）.ConclusionRuda Kuiyang Powder could effective ly antagonize experimental gastric ulcer

and the effect might be related to increase of SOD and decrease of MDA.
