This article discusses several essential issues on current studies of formula of traditional Chinese medicine（ TCM） from a translational medicine perspective. It proposes that modern studies of TCM formula should refer to the ideas of translational medicine and aim on clinical application. Studies on TCM formula and syndrome

substantial basis of multi-medicinal formula and reevaluation on clinical efficacy should be enhanced

the combination of basic research and clinical application should be positively promoted to transfer the achievement from preclinical studies into clinical practice

and finally to improve clinical efficacy.
