The authors summarize Prof. XIAO Chengcong’ s experience in treating premature ovarian failure( POF). From the entry point of women’s physiological and pathological characteristics
combined with Chinese medicine theory and clinical practice
by determination of etiologic factors based on differentiation
the authors put forward that kidney deficiency is the root cause of POF. Blood deficiency is the basis. Thoroughfare channel exhaustion is the key point of POF. In the treatment
invigorating the kidney and tonifying both Yin and Yang are main methods. Regulating thoroughfare channel is important
combined with regulating Qi and blood. Chinese medicine is inherited and western medicine is combined. Herbs should be used according to different phases. Psychological counseling should be carried out. As for using herbs
based on going back to the origin
ancient prescription Wuzi Yanzong Wan( 五子衍宗丸) is modified into Qizi Yishen Lizhong Decoction( 七子益肾理冲汤)
which is effective by invigorating the kidney
nourishing the liver and regulating thoroughfare channel.
