From the aspect of Chinese medicine etiology and pathogenesis
the mechanism of autophagy is in accord with defending function of Qi in Chinese medicine. Spleen is the foundation of acquired constitution. Spleen deficiency leads to phlegm generating. Under the condition of dysfunction of spleen in transportation and abnormal lipids metabolism
macrophage is weak to autophagy. Reverse cholesterol transport is obstructed. Then vascular endothelial function is affected and atherosclerotic diseases occur. From the aspect of Chinese medicine theory
the authors explore the mechanism of macrophage autophagy in depth
which might reveal the micro-essence of treating atherosclerosis( AS) related diseases from spleen
