Objective To explore the rule of prescription of drug in the treatment of constipation in Treatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases（ 《伤寒论》）

and to provide reference for rational use of prescription and improvement of clinical constipation efficacy. Methods The prescriptions for treating constipation in Treatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases were organized. The frequency number of occurrence of related words in constipation

the frequency number and frequency of the use of prescription medicines in constipation treatment

and four properties and five tastes and channel tropism were compared and analyzed. Results There were 78 texts related to "constipation"in Treatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases and 21 prescriptions related to constipation. The number of the ingredients was in simplification

with no more than 10 ingredients. A total of 34 ingredients were used after removing the honey decoction. The channel tropism was the spleen by the most

and warm flavor were often used to treat constipation in Treatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases. It mainly treats from the spleen

stomach and lungs. It is an important aspect to treat constipation by regulating the qi movements of zang-fu organs

especially the application of purgative method and harmonization method.
