Professor XU Fusong believes that deformed sperm disease is manifested as dampness and heat
and rooted in kidney deficiency. Kidney deficiency is divided into kidney yin deficiency syndrome and kidney yang deficiency syndrome. Damp heat and kidney deficiency are often miscellaneous. It also causes phlegm stagnation
qi stagnation
and blood stasis. It also affects the spermatogenesis. When diagnosis
the deficiency and excess should be syndrome differentiated. Bitter cold herbs should not be used when clearing heat and removing dampness
so as to affect the growth of sperm. And the herbs of sweet
cold and tonifying yin should be properly used to prevent the occurrence of dampness and heat. Tonifying kidney should consider yin and yang. Warming yang should use herbs with warming but not dryness
and yin in yang. Yin deficiency should use herbs with nourishing but not greasy
tonifying kidney and replenishing essence. In addition
we must pay attention to the use of herbs with activating blood and resolving stagnation to improve efficacy.
