Professor WANG Shouchuan’s experiences of eight methods with mainly warming yang to treat chronic diarrhea in children were introduced. The treatment of chronic diarrhea should first identify the constitution of children
and then distinguish between the deficiency and excess
zang-fu viscera. Compared with adults
children are often characterized as spleen and kidneys’ deficiency
and the liver hyperactivity. Intake of cold dishes is easy to hurt spleen yang. In response to this
warming yang for activating spleen should be the main treatment for diarrhea in children. Meanwhile
eight methods of warming and boosting spleen yang
invigorating spleen qi
eliminating dampness for activating spleen
promoting digestion to activate spleen
regulating qi to activate spleen
warmly invigorating kidney yang
invigorating the stomach to nourishing yin
and inhibiting the wood to tonify the earth were flexibly applied. It ascends the stomach qi and descends the spleen qi
